Don’t take it from me, take it from the expert. Dr. Andrew Weil recommends against the consumption of fake sugars, in part because fake sugars and fake fats do not promote good eating habits. The idea behind fake sugars is to fake the body out, enjoying the sweet flavor without the calorie load. True, the body does not know what to do with the fake sugar and just eliminates it. But, in its confusion, your body will put away something for a rainy day. So using fake sugars does not achieve the reduction in calories that people hope for, but packs on the pounds anyway. Your best bet? Use a small amount of real sugar and enjoy it!
